communities in Western Nyanza Province that comprise the Water and Sanitation
for Health (WASEH) Project of CARE

Design
- A large-scale
implementation project funded by the CARE/CDC Health Initiative that
is being incorporated into CARE’s Dak
Achana
(Household Livelihood Security) Project. The methodology employed
includes the community mobilization process that characterizes Dak Achana
and social marketing.
Intervention
Elements
- Sodium
hypochlorite disinfectant prepared specifically for the project by a
local private company. The brand name is Klorin.
- The
project will compare the effectiveness of clay pots, clay pots modified
to include spigots, and the CDC safe water vessel.
- Filtration
using locally available cloth
- Settling
and decanting of turbid water

education for behavior change
